Curriculum Update May 7-11

I hope everyone stayed safe and dry this weekend!  We are down to our final 12 days of school; I can't believe it!

Our third grade science fair will take place Friday from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm. You are more than welcome to attend at any time.

Please continue to send in reading logs. We earn a paw for every 500 minutes read. They are due every Tuesday.

Please also continue to keep track of the Olympic, Go for the Gold logs. Your child should have brought them home last week. By training for the the Olympics at home, your child will help our class. You cross out a gold medal for every 10 minutes of exercise. For every 60 minutes, there needs to be a parent signature. Each completed log is worth 3 gold medals.

Rigby Reading
We will complete part of our video games. The students blogged about what they liked and disliked about their own video game and what their goal is for the new one. When the finish, they will play each other's games again and then evaluate them on their blogs. We will also work newspapers this week, using all the skills we learned in reading this year.

enVision Math
We ended perimeter and will begin a unit on area this week. We will be covering regions, area and units, standard units, area of squares and rectangles and figure out area using the distributive property.

Spelling
No spelling for the remainder of the school year.

Science
We will continue digging for fossils with Mrs. Vaughan's class, eventually building dinosaurs from all the parts. We will also be working on our science fair boards.
Writing
The kids will be writing their last pen pal letter to their pen pals in California. They will be writing their published copy of their persuasive summer vacation paper.

Have a fantastic week!
