Curriculum Update January 7-10

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday with family and friends. We have definitely returned to school in some frigid weather!

On Wednesday, please look for information coming home about our School of Economics field trip next Thursday, January 16.

Our school-wide community service project, Read to Feed starts this week. Please look for more information coming home on Tuesday about the project and obtaining sponsors.

ELA/SS
We will complete our unit of fables. The students will retell their favorite fable, identifying the theme and moral. Then, they will work to change parts of it to create a new moral.

We will begin our international festival project where the students will do research how their heritage plays a role in who they are today.

Math
We will begin fractions this week. The students will learn how to divide regions into equal parts, identify fractions and regions, fractions and sets and fractional parts of a set.

Writing
The students will begin brainstorming questions that will lead them to the driving question of, "How does your heritage play a role in who you are today?"

Have a fantastic week!
