September 7-9

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Our solar cookout will be on Friday, September 16.  Please look for more information this week.

enVision Math
We will continue our unit on addition and subtraction number sense.  The focus this week will be on using mental math to subtract, rounding and estimating sums.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are having any problems logging into the enVision website.

Rigby Reading
Because of MAP testing during reading, there will be no Rigby this week.  Throughout the other curricular areas, we will still be focusing on asking questions before, during, and after reading.
Grammar- The focus will be on verbs

Spelling
There is NO Rigby this week due to MAP testing.

Science
We will continue our solar energy unit.  Last week, the students created solar water heaters and tested different earth materials.  They also continued to learn how darker colors absorb more heat.  This week, we will be making sun traps and learning about the importance of solar ovens throughout the world.

Social Studies
We will continue our communities unit.  The students will create their own urban, suburban, and rural communities out of milk cartons.  They will work in groups to present their thinking on the development of their communities.
Writing
We will work on revising and editing our Narrative paper on, "My most Memorable Vacation".
Have a great rest of the week!
